The Current Situation

As most readers of this article will be aware the Times and Citizen contained a small feature on the group and out current situation in their 10th March edition.

• Founded in 1957 Putnoe Scout Group was sponsored by Putnoe Heights Church
• A section of land to the rear of the church was provided at a peppercorn rent of £1 per annum
• The Group funded the building of a Hut on the premises and still hold ownership of the building
• When, in 1997, the lease was up for renewal, it was established at £250 rising to £500 over 5 years
• There was a verbal agreement that if this was ever a problem, it would be foregone
• Recently threats of 'invoking clauses in the lease' have been given, believed by us to imply eviction if payment was not received.
• Due to this £1425 back rent has been paid leaving a sum of £225 outstanding for Feb. to August 2006
